We were using our Breville Mini Smart oven more than ever & decided we wanted something slightly larger. . Like the first one, it looks nice, fits nicely on the kitchen counter without being HUGE & matches our stainless steel appliances. ..and most importantly it’s still the Breville we love...it toasts, bakes and broils perfectly every time. We’ve had lots of toaster ovens but Breville is by far the best. We would never buy another brand.
The interior black paint is flaking and I am concerned that it might be contaminating my food. Also, the Start/Cancel button sometimes doesn't cancel, so I have to press it a couple of times to turn it off. That potentially posses a fire hazard if it doesn't stop. Breville wouldn't warranty it and wants $100 to service it. Doesn't make economic sense.
I have baked chicken and made toast in this so far. The set up was easy and it heats up fast. I have used/owned many ovens this size in my life, and this oven bar far makes gluten free bread, taste like the best toast ever. That is saying a lot, because gluten free bread can be iffy at best. My only complaint is that the wire rack does not have a stop gap, to keep the tray from coming completely out when you when pull it out of the oven. Meaning, that it should not slide completely out and onto the glass door, when you pull the rack out. My previous ovens have had that, it was a bit to get used to. So far so good, otherwise.
