Having the 4-slice smart toaster allows me to prepare breakfast in the morning on time and be served hot! Staging my poached eggs on the first hot Rosemary English muffins, then immediately served the other eggs once the other one his done. Also, I like a toasted bagel entirely on LEVEL 3, followed by a follow-up using the BAGEL setting on LEVEL 1. It always comes out just right. The entire bagel is warm, and at the same time, the face of the bagel is toasted nicely. Having the visibility available to the status of when the toasting cycle is complete is a great tool. I would never hesitate in purchasing another Breville® appliance.
I purchased this in May 2025. People with issues of "not heating evenly" is not because of a defective product run or they are using it incorrectly. The machine's inner heating element channels (between 2 slices of bread) do not heat up to a red glow, though they do heat up somewhat. That leads to my next point - this is still using some metal coils to generally heat up. There's no precision in the heating, which normally is fine, but not for the current price point. It jumped 50 bucks after these great tariffs of 2025. Anyways you are better off finding one of these at homegoods at least. It DOES look very slick with the auto rise and LED lights.
Our previous Breville toaster - the $80 dollar one - served us reasonably well for 4 years then one element quit. This one looks nice, feels nice but it's really the same toasting core used in $30 toasters inside a $150 "die cast" housing. It looks good, feels good and the buttons and software are nice but, in the end it doesn't toast that much better than a $30 toaster, and that's really sad. The elements heat unevenly, we have to push the slider toward 4 to get good toast, and, while it does toast reasonably evenly, it doesn't toast perfectly evenly, as a $180 toaster absolutely should. I expect this one will also quit in 4 years or so and when it does I'm done with Breville.
