Interior Paint Peeling and Rusting
I purchased this microwave from William Sonoma in September of 2021 and had to stop using it about a year ago. As you can see in the photos it appears that the interior paint is peeling, melting and rusting. This made me suspect it could be a health concern for our family. I own countless Breville products and I have never had such a disappointing experience. I came back to post a review after I had recommended this microwave to a friend and they are having a similar issue.
Interior Flaking After 2 Years Light Use
I bought this unit sealed/new 2 years ago and the interior lip of the unit is starting to flake off - the powder coating/grey paint and starting to rust. A unit that costs 2 to 3 times more expensive than a regular microwave should not be doing this. Its in a home with 2-3 people using it a few times a week. Be aware if you are thinking of purchasing this unit.
Broke after only 5 months; replacement on the way though
We have had many Breville products over the years (espresso machine, coffee grinder, toaster, and our previous microwave) and have been so happy with all of them. Unfortunately, it seems the Compact Wave Microwave is not up to the standard we've come to expect from Breville. After only 5 months of fairly light usage, a plastic latch broke off inside the machine and now it doesn't work. To Breville's credit, I called in a warranty claim and the customer service person was very courteous and a replacement is on the way. Going forward I'll probably skip the lowest price point Breville products, but will still buy the higher end ones. One star for this product, but 5 stars for the customer service/warranty.
