I'm 80, a 24/7 caregiver, living in a senior living apartment. But that doesn't mean that we use the facility's dining service. Surprisingly, we live independently here and I cook everything my spouse and I eat every day. 24/7, 365. We never go out. We never bring meals in. Cooking for us is a joy for me because I'm a retired chef and culinary instructor with the skill to cook light, healthy and delicious meals for us from quality ingredients. So why am I so pleased with my new Control Freak Home? Because everything I cook with precise temperature control is tastier, has better texture, is more nutritious and is more eye-appealing than I could ever achieve on any other cooktop. And I can now sear sous vide steaks and chops. Wow! This is a wonderful machine.
Game changer: Meal #1: Heat frozen soup. Set temp to my favorite temp of 160, soup in, lid on, walk away. No stirring, no burning, perfect soup. Degree-by-degree control around boiling temp provides undreamed-of finesse. 400 degrees provides perfect sear with meal-to-meal repeatability. I'm no Escoffier, but this has SO improved my game, I'm never giving this up. We park this on top of our Wolf induction cooktop; it's just crude beyond belief by comparison. Breville should provide leveling adjustments for the 4 feet of this thing. I used duct tape.
Works like a champ, making me look like a champ in the kitchen. Love to see a cooktop version w/ 6 burners! Just saying.
